CANADIAN INSTITUTE OF
Offering YA 200 Hour, 300 Hour
& Therapeutic Yoga Certification.
The Canadian Institute of Therapeutic Yoga is founded by Yvonne Werkmann and Jamie Mathiasen. With decades of experience in the field of yoga we have combined our skills to develop training programs that facilitate a cooperative learning environment with support and education from some of the top Yoga and Ayurveda teachers in North America.
Our vision for our programs is to help yoga teachers develop the confidence to trust their own wisdom and make choices that will help to move their students forward. By increasing your depth of knowledge through advanced yoga practices and teachings you will learn the skills to better support your students.
Yvonne Werkmann is a well respected and beloved Yoga Teacher, triathlete and mom. She is an Ordained Mantra Teacher with Sanatana Dharma Satsang and is currently completing studies to become a Pujari and Priest with that organization. She mentors in a variety of Teacher Trainings, Therapeutic Yoga programs and business programs. Yvonne is an E-RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance and has completed a 1000 hour Internationally recognized Yoga Therapy Certification (IAYT). She is a highly successful yoga teacher, mantra teacher and guide who has progressed her students in their yoga practices and in their lives.
Jamie Mathiasen first met yoga in 1997 during one of a thousand conversations about 'the meaning of life' and a good friend suggested she go to a yoga class. Skeptical that the answers to life could be found while balancing on her head, she went to her first class and like many students, realized yoga was much more than exercise. She fell in love with the space that her yoga practice created for her to feel her body and find stillness in her otherwise hectic life. Her passion and focus shifted to Therapeutic Yoga where she has earned a 1000 hour Internationally recognized Yoga Therapy Certification (IAYT). She has completed Level I & II of Rhythmic Movement Therapy (RMTi) a movement based, primitive (infant or neo-natal) reflex integration programme that uses developmental movements, gentle isometric pressure and self-awareness to rebuild the foundations necessary to help overcome learning, sensory, emotional and behavioural challenges. She has recently began studying Trauma-Sensitive Yoga with David Emerson.
She was the co-creator of the 200 hour Hatha Method Teacher Training at Calgary's leading studio, Breathe Hot Yoga.
